We all start the each year with good
intentions but once a month has passed, it can be difficult to find the
motivation to stick to your resolutions. That doesn’t need to be the case,
though. Here are five simple ways you can unlock your inner motivation and reach your goals with English
this year.
Use the power of visualisation
Many people believe in the concept of a self-fulfilling prophecy. This means
that if you expect to fail, you will. On the other hand, if you expect to
succeed, then you will also succeed in reaching your goals. Start your practice
by imagining yourself speaking fluently and easily. What does it feel like? Try
and hold onto this feeling while you practice and it will motivate you to work
hard and achieve your goals.
Remember why you started studying in
the first place
Sometimes it’s easy to lose track of the big reasons we are doing something in
the first place. Think back to when you first started learning English.
Why did you start? Where did you imagine you would be by now? How did you feel?
Try and recapture some of the excitement you had when you first started
learning and it will help you motivate yourself to continue.
Think of how far you’ve come
Do you remember what it was like when you first started learning English? How
did your speech sound? What kind of things could you read? I bet you’re a whole
lot better, now. Use your progress to motivate you to carry on learning. One great
way to do this is to record yourself speaking once a month and listen back to
the recordings later. You will certainly notice a difference.
Create small wins every day
Set small goals every day that you are pretty sure you can achieve. This will
help give you a sense of progress and momentum. As the small goals build up,
you will notice yourself tackling larger ones in no time.
Try something new
Practising in the same way can be great if you have efficient methods. It can
get a little boring, though. Try learning in a different way once a week to see
if it works for you. The variety will make your practice more interesting and
you might find some methods that work really well for you.
So, how do you feel now? Are you

it works in the comments section below.
